There are 20 acres of beautiful property that surround our inn, which — besides the areas that we keep mowed – include forest, meadows and two ponds.  We have an abundance of wildlife here, and in addition to the normal squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons and deer we have at various times seen black bears, foxes, otters and even a moose.  A couple mornings ago, I went out and took some pictures of a Loon swimming on the pond, and then happened to glance over to the side of the pond to see a beautiful Blue Heron standing there!  He was gorgeous, but camera shy…. He took wing and crossed over to the other pond as soon as he realized he was being photographed.  Enjoy the photos, and come and see some of our wildlife for yourself!

I think she’s smiling at us!

Happy President’s Day Weekend!  We’re gearing up for a busy one here at the Inn… We only have one room open tonight, and are fully booked tomorrow.  We DO still have a couple of rooms open for Sunday, if anyone wants to come up for a one-nighter.  We have snow flurries in the forecast for tomorrow, and sunshine on Sunday, so it looks to be a great weekend.  We still have some room on the dinner chart for people who’d like to enjoy some of the wonderful Italian fare that we serve in our restaurant, NONNA’S, but we’re filling up fast, so don’t wait too long to call for a reservation!  We have our regular Friday   special tonight…slow-roasted Prime Rib with salad, potatoes & vegetable for $25.95…

On another subject, in case we haven’t said it yet, we are all real dog lovers here at the Inn.  We accommodate pets in several of our outside fireplace rooms and cottages, and love to get pictures of the canine guests when we can.  Here are two real cuties who were here recently… Lola, a sweet as pie little white French Bulldog, and very handsome Rufus, a little Maltese.  We certainly hope they come and visit us again!

Hello Everyone! What a beautiful day in Vermont today…. we’re actually getting a little snow this morning! The mountain has lots to offer in the way of great skiing and snowboarding. All of our guests have commented on what great conditions the trails have to offer. Nonna’s Restaurant is open tonight serving up some great Italian fare along with a great selection of Italian wines and a wonderful selection of Craft Beers and Corked finish large format 750ml craft beers.  And speaking of Nonna’s… we finally got approval from the town zoning to put up new signs at the Inn that also have the restaurant name, so we’re working on that now.  We already have the new sign for the post to the left of the front entrance…. the old historic one that has the great big saw blade leaning up against it.  Rob, our trusty maintenance man, put the sign up yesterday, and it looks great!  We’ll be replacing the large sign that faces Route 100 soon….

Looks so GREAT!

Hello, everyone!  I’ve been told a Blog isn’t really a Blog until you start writing, so I guess I’d better!  As indicated by the title of today’s addition, the first REAL post, IT IS SNOWING here right now!  Which is certainly preferable to the freezing rain we were having on Friday morning.  That was pretty treacherous, but did make for some great photos.   I took several around the Inn’s grounds, and have included a picture of a couple of the old apples that are still hanging on one of the trees.  We had a great weekend here at the Inn; so many nice couples were visiting us.  One of the couples ended up getting engaged while they were here.  That’s one of the great things about the Inn…. it’s such a romantic place, with so much charm.  It makes a great place to pop the question!  In this case, the young couple (and such a cute couple they were!) was staying in one of our suites with a wood-burning fireplace in the room.  He lit a nice fire, then  took her by the hand, led her over to the fireplace, got down on one knee, and proposed… very romantic!  It was a total surprise to her, and of course she said yes… how could she not?!  And the engagement ring… Let me just say he has GREAT taste in jewelry!
